POST PARTY BURNOUT IS REAL

I spent the better portion of a year grinding out a huge-arse demo, in a grand experiment. Could one actually bring a (mostly) 2D PC demo to a major party, and get it on stage? Well, the answer is yes, but don't expect much out of the voting segment. To be fair, we got plenty of votes (as a portion of the total), and also got a very spirited round of applause, well beyond the perfunctory "Didn't do anything for me, but thanks for coming" rounds that many entries got. The Discord channel chatter was also complimentary. I hope that people are inspired to bring lovely, weird demos of their own to future parties. And that was really the goal: give people something to laugh about.

As such, I consider that a success on all points. I'm also pretty sure we picked up some new fans along the way. And I got a ~2 week vacation out of it, so in reality there's little to be disappointed with.

I am, however, still exhausted. The months leading up to the end were a brutal slog, and severe aggrevations with work placed undue burden on me when I needed it least. I spent the last weeks frantically rescheduling contractors, freight deliveries, and appointments, and as such I'm more than slightly aggrieved. The other side of it was badly needing those weeks for polish and rest. I got neither. So I rolled into the compo exhausted, with a waning sinus infection, and most damningly without a properly finished demo.

I'm spending my evenings reading, since I got back. My brain is unwilling to do anything technical, or update sites, etc. That stuff will have to wait. I fully intend to further flesh out the "secret" part of the demo, but that too will have to wait a minute. There shall be no work done for the time being -- I shall rest, for I have earned it.
